Construction of a new public terminal at Matagami Airport for the Ministry of Transport and Sustainable Mobility—the air gateway to the James Bay region—carried out while maintaining existing airport operations.
The Matagami terminal is a strategic public transportation facility for Northern Quebec, serving the population and economic activities of the James Bay region. Hardy Construction is acting as general contractor and is responsible for the entire project, from building construction to civil works.
The project presents a unique logistical challenge: the construction of the new building and the setup of a temporary terminal allow flights to continue during construction, prior to the demolition of the old terminal. Hardy coordinates subcontractors, manages costs and schedules, and handles procurement for a remote site.
